The Cause

Securing sustainable management of international pelagic fisheries

The Effect

The North Atlantic Pelagic Advocacy Group (NAPA) is a coalition of over 50 global businesses aiming to drive international governments to commit to catch sharing agreements and end overfishing in 3 key North East Atlantic fisheries: mackerel, blue whiting, and herring. Members include some of the world’s biggest seafood businesses and retailers, such as Aldi, Thai Union and Cargill.

Mindfully Wired’s role is to maximise the reach and impact of NAPA’s messages – from developing branding and communications strategies, through to creating briefs to support members to share their own messages, to targeted media, social media and advocacy.

We work with NAPA to translate complex information into clear calls to action, using scientific data about the state of the stocks alongside the economic consequences of losing access to these vital fisheries should they fail to meet NAPA members’ sustainable sourcing criteria.

In 2024, we revamped the communications strategy to deliver tailored campaigns for each species: watch this space as they are rolled out throughout 2025.
