Creating a youth-led manifesto to hold leaders to account
To celebrate World Ocean Day 2021, we helped Surfers Against Sewage assemble over 100 young people to an online Youth, Ocean & Climate Summit with the aim of creating a Youth Manifesto. We convened a Youth Advisory Panel who guided the agenda creation and kept us fiercly on brief.
During the event our expert team facilitated breakout groups of young ocean advocates to gather their thoughts on the ocean that they will inherit. Focusing on key topics from the Youth Advisory Panel, we were able to focus their energy and passion into a concrete set of demands for leaders.
After the Summit we crafted a punchy, measurable manifesto that was delivered to a panel of MPs, government ministers, journalists and the Spokesperson for COP26. Surfers Against Sewage committed to revisiting the manifesto 12 months later to judge the progress made.
